Terms & Conditions
These Terms and Conditions govern the rental of vehicles and trailers offered by XCAPE Adventure through its website xcape.cl and other sales channels. By making a reservation, you fully accept the conditions set out herein.

2. Service Description
XCAPE Adventure offers the rental of 4x4 vehicles equipped with camper modules and expedition trailers for exploring the Carretera Austral and surrounding areas in Chilean Patagonia. The current fleet includes:
Peugeot Landtrek 4x4 Camper: complete vehicle with habitable module, king-size bed, private bathroom, equipped kitchen and solar power system
Teardrop Expedition Trailer: all-terrain trailer with rooftop tent and sleeping spaces for 4 adults or families
3. Renter Requirements
To rent any of our vehicles, the main driver must meet the following requirements:
Be at least 25 years of age
Hold a valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving history
For foreign nationals: present an international driver’s license, or a license from their country of origin in Spanish, English, French, German, or Italian (or with an official translation)
No record of serious traffic violations in the past 3 years
Present a valid passport or national ID
Hold a valid credit or debit card in the name of the main renter for the security deposit
4. Reservation Process
Reservations are made through the following steps:
Select the desired vehicle and dates on xcape.cl
Complete the form with the renter’s details
Pay the required amount or deposit to confirm the reservation
Receive a confirmation email with reservation details
The reservation is confirmed only once payment has been received and a confirmation email has been sent. XCAPE Adventure reserves the right to decline reservations in exceptional cases, with a full refund of any payment made.
5. Rates and Payment
5.1 Rates
Rates are listed on the website and may be quoted in USD or CLP + VAT. Published prices include the vehicle (or trailer), full equipment, basic insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance, and unlimited mileage. Fuel is not included in any rate.
5.2 Accepted payment methods
Bank transfer (CLP)
Credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard)
PayPal or other international platforms agreed upon in advance
5.3 Security deposit
At the time of vehicle pick-up, a security deposit will be held on the main renter’s credit card. The amount will be communicated at the time of reservation and varies by vehicle. The deposit is released within 5 business days after return, provided the vehicle is returned without additional damage beyond that recorded at pick-up.
6. Cancellation and Modification Policy
6.1 Cancellation by the renter
Cancellation more than 30 days before pick-up: 100% refund of payment made
Cancellation between 15 and 30 days before pick-up: 50% refund of payment made
Cancellation less than 15 days before pick-up: no refund
6.2 Date changes
Date changes are subject to availability and must be requested at least 7 days in advance. XCAPE Adventure will make best efforts to accommodate requested changes.
6.3 Cancellation by XCAPE Adventure
In the event of cancellation by XCAPE Adventure due to force majeure, serious mechanical failure, or exceptional circumstances, the renter will be offered an alternative vehicle of equal or superior category, or a full refund of any payment made.
7. Pick-up and Return
7.1 Pick-up location
Vehicle pick-up takes place in Puerto Varas, Los Lagos Region, Chile, at the location agreed upon at the time of reservation. Pick-up includes a full orientation on vehicle operation, the camper module systems, and recommended routes.
7.2 Return
Return takes place in Puerto Varas, unless a different drop-off location has been agreed upon (subject to an additional fee). The vehicle must be returned at the agreed time. Late returns without prior notice may incur additional charges equivalent to one day’s rental for every 12 hours of delay.
7.3 Vehicle condition at pick-up and return
A detailed condition report (with photographs) will be completed at both pick-up and return. The renter is responsible for returning the vehicle in the same condition as received, including the agreed fuel level and basic interior cleanliness.
8. Insurance and Liability for Damage
8.1 Included insurance
The rental includes mandatory civil liability insurance as required by Chilean law (SOAP) and basic own-damage insurance with a deductible. Specific coverage details will be provided at the time of reservation.
8.2 Renter liability
The renter is responsible for damage to the vehicle up to the insurance deductible amount, and for the full cost of damage in the following cases:
Driving under the influence of alcohol or other substances
Breach of the usage conditions established in this agreement
Driving by persons not authorized in the reservation
Damage caused in expressly prohibited areas or outside the agreed zone
Intentional damage or gross negligence
8.3 Roadside assistance
XCAPE Adventure provides 24/7 telephone assistance throughout the entire rental period. In the event of mechanical failure not attributable to the renter, we will arrange the necessary assistance.
9. Vehicle Use
The renter agrees to:
Drive the vehicle in compliance with Chilean traffic laws
Not sublet or transfer use of the vehicle to unauthorized third parties
Not transport more persons than permitted by the vehicle’s technical specifications
Not use the vehicle for illegal activities or speed competitions
Not cross the border with the vehicle without prior authorization and corresponding documentation
Not enter beach areas, sand, or zones with risk of becoming stuck unless expressly authorized
Follow the basic maintenance guidelines provided at pick-up (oil levels, tire pressure, etc.)
10. Travel to Argentina or Other Countries
If you wish to take the vehicle outside Chile, you must request this explicitly at the time of reservation. XCAPE Adventure will handle the vehicle’s temporary export documentation (customs paperwork). This authorization carries an additional fee to be communicated in advance. Crossing the border without authorization constitutes grounds for immediate termination of the agreement, with no refund.
11. Prohibited Uses
Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs driving ability
Smoking inside the vehicle or camper module
Transporting pets without prior written authorization
Modifying or altering any component of the vehicle or included equipment
Towing with the Peugeot Landtrek objects not previously authorized
12. Limitation of Liability
XCAPE Adventure shall not be liable for loss of or damage to personal belongings stored in the vehicle. We shall also not be liable for delays, interruptions, or itinerary changes caused by extreme weather conditions, road closures, border crossings, or other force majeure circumstances.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of Chile. Any disputes arising in connection with this agreement shall be submitted to the ordinary courts of Puerto Varas, Los Lagos Region, with both parties waiving any other jurisdiction that may apply to them.
14. Amendments
XCAPE Adventure reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be published on xcape.cl and will take effect upon publication. Reservations already confirmed will be governed by the terms in effect at the time of confirmation.

3. Renter Requirements

5. Rates and Payment
5.1 Rates
Rates are listed on the website and may be quoted in USD or CLP + VAT. Published prices include the vehicle (or trailer), full equipment, basic insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance, and unlimited mileage. Fuel is not included in any rate.
5.2 Accepted payment methods

5.3 Security deposit
At the time of vehicle pick-up, a security deposit will be held on the main renter’s credit card. The amount will be communicated at the time of reservation and varies by vehicle. The deposit is released within 5 business days after return, provided the vehicle is returned without additional damage beyond that recorded at pick-up.
6. Cancellation and Modification Policy
6.1 Cancellation by the renter
Cancellation more than 30 days before pick-up: 100% refund of payment made
Cancellation between 15 and 30 days before pick-up: 50% refund of payment made
Cancellation less than 15 days before pick-up: no refund
6.2 Date changes

7.2 Return
Return takes place in Puerto Varas, unless a different drop-off location has been agreed upon (subject to an additional fee). The vehicle must be returned at the agreed time. Late returns without prior notice may incur additional charges equivalent to one day’s rental for every 12 hours of delay.
7.3 Vehicle condition at pick-up and return
A detailed condition report (with photographs) will be completed at both pick-up and return. The renter is responsible for returning the vehicle in the same condition as received, including the agreed fuel level and basic interior cleanliness.
8. Insurance and Liability for Damage
8.1 Included insurance
